Plitvice Lakes
The National park Plitvice lakes is not only the largest, oldest and most beautiful park in Croatia, but it is also one of the largest and oldest European National parks. The Plitvice Lakes is natural monument which can also be found on the UNESCO's list of international heritage.
The beauty of this area conquers by its natural diversity, magnificent ambient, clean air, crystal clear water, waterfalls, caves and forests. The Plitvice lakes has 16 bigger and a few smaller lakes separated by travertine barriers, the basic phenomenon of the National park. Around the lakes there is virgin forest which is home to large number of vegetation and wildlife species.

There is large number of choices for spending free time in the Plitvice lakes area. You can climb one of the peaks around the lakes from where you will have a wonderful view of the lakes and entire area. Or you can enjoy rafting on the Una, one of the most beautiful and clearest rivers in Europe. You can go fishing stream trout on the Gacka river. You can explore one of many caves in the area or visit one of old sawmills. In the winter you can go skiing.

The National park of Brijuni consists of 18 islands. The main characteristic of the Brijuni archipelago is the extraordinary biological (both flora and fauna) diversity given thanks to its geographical location, its geological base and geomorphology, its diversity of the habitat and its island isolation.
The Kornati National Park consists of 89 islands, islets and reefs on just 220 km2. It is famous both on cliffs and interesting relief structures on the one side and it's submarine area whose biocenosis are considered to be the richest in the Adriatic Sea on the other.
The Krka National Park is located along the Krka River. It is a spacious, largely unchanged region of exceptional and multifaceted natural value, and includes one or more preserved or insignificantly altered ecosystems.
The Mljet National Park is famous for its salt lakes, unique geological and oceanographic phenomenon of worldwide importance. There are also beautiful, rich forests that once covered large areas of the Mediterranean Coast.
The Northern Velebit National Park was designated a national park due to its richness of carst phenomena, outstanding biodiversity and exquisitly beautiful nature on a relatively small area and is famous for its geomorphological phenomena - the pits (some are more then 1 km deep).
The National Park Paklenica spans from the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea to the highest peaks of the Velebit Mountain, Vaganski Vrh and Sveto Brdo. The region is simple and unusual in its connection between the sea and the mountains with beech and black pine forests, deep canyons cut vertically into the Velebit ridge and numerous caves and pits.
The Risnjak National park is located in Gorski kotar, the most wooded part of western Croatia. Due to various climatic, geologic, petrographic and other factors, a very heterogeneous flora and fauna has been preserved in this area.
